Apollo AI leans on hot and cold numbers. They are fun to look at, but they rest on a common thinking error.
What hot and cold mean
"Hot" numbers came up often lately; "cold" ones rarely. The hot and cold bars and spread chart show this.
The gambler's fallacy
People feel a cold number is "due", or a hot one is "on a roll". Both feelings are wrong for fair draws. Each result is independent, so the next draw ignores the last hundred.
Why patterns appear anyway
Short runs of random data always look lumpy. Flip a coin 20 times and you will often see four heads in a row. That is chance, not a signal.
What sellers admit
A press release about a similar BuyGoods lottery product notes the brand's own FAQ says it does not predict results. Read the fine print before trusting "prediction" ads.
